You need a purpose. For instance I needed to copy and edit config files for a bunch terminals my company has deployed last week. Instead of manually copying the template directory 80 times and editing the 2 lines that needed to be changed in the parameter file for each one I used powershell to extract the name and id for each terminal from the log files and create copy of the template directory for each one, then replace the terminal name and id in the parameter file of the new directory with the ones extracted from the logs. This would have taken me all day to do manually and it only took about 45 minutes to write up the script and run it. I did have some prior experience with doing this kind of thing but hadn’t tied them all together lile that before so i learned some stuff.

These things are already on the road in Texas. I’d be shitting my pants every time I got on the interstate if I lived there.

I’m on IPT and TL and getting ratio on them took fucking forever. It’s basically impossible to do via seeding because everything gets flooded with seeders instantly. Occasionally they have stuff I can’t find elsewhere but I mostly use public ones. If I didn’t have to maintain a ratio on the private ones to download I would be seeding so much more of their shit. IMO seeding time is a much better metric to use to enforce seeding than ratio.

Then their kid goes back to school the next day and continues to inflict a lifes with of trauma on their peers.

When I moved I had planned out exactly where everything was to go when I got to the new place and boxed and labeled the boxes as to where they needed to be down to what items went into what drawers. I had a binder full of diagrams and everything. The people helping me move just needed to put the boxes in the truck and take them out at the new place based off what color the label on the box was. It was like 3 hours work total. Easiest move I’ve ever been involved in. If I hadn’t done it like that I’d have been so stressed out. It was still really stressful even though it went mostly smoothly. I don’t know how these people that just expect everyone to show up and do it all for them can live their lives like that.

That’a ridiculous. All that effort when they could just make the test hard enough and time it so even if you have reference materials available you still have to have a good understanding of it. I couldn’t even take a test like this because I have one room to work out of and it’s got all my tech shit in it. Even if I wasn’t intending to cheat I have nowhere else to put it.

Make and restore furniture. Build shit. Garden. Read. Organize and fill out my media library. Learn programming and try to fix some of the problems I’m dealing with on Linux. Probably socialize more because I wouldn’t be tired of dealing with people and stressed out from work all the time.

This shit is why I think regular therapy sessions should be a mandatory part of high school for everyone. Kids need better tools to deal with the shit they’re going through.

They weren’t donating their time. Writing tests was part of their job. They just made the questions a lot harder and more based on practical knowledge. Rather than just recalling information found in the book you had to apply the information to answer the questions.

Not really a lot of the teachers at the tech school I went to did it that way and I know for a fact they weren’t getting paid well at all.

If they’re going to have online exams they need to just accept that cheating is going to happen. There’s a million ways to do that in an environment you control. Make the exams open book but make it harder to account for the fact that the students have access to reference materials.
